カッコ良過ぎ！！ Paul Brady（ポール・ブレディー） なんて記事でも書いてたんですがこの年代のおじさんミュージシャン達は本当に粋できかせてくれます。

この曲、Both Sides the Tweedとはスコットランドとイングランドの国堺を流れる『ツィード側の両端』と言う意味、つまりイングランドとスコットランドの事を歌っています。

元々は詩人のJames Hoggが1707年に書いた詩に、Dick Gaughanが1979年に曲を付けたもの。

歌詞の内容は以下の様なもの。

Who've bartered their freedom for gain.

ある意味無理やり併合させられたスコットランド側からの静かな抗議を秘めた、でもそれを表立っては出していないところがかえって凄く熱い気持ちにさせてくれますね。

同じ曲ですがアイルランドの音楽やってる人にはこちらのバージョンの方がおなじみかもですね。
